Slipped Stitches with Deborah Newton
We invite you Sunday, November 3rd to learn about the world of slipped stitch patterns in an inspirational workshop with our favorite knitwear guru.
Design your own Slipped Stitches Cowl
Join Deborah Newton from 9 am – Noon to learn about the wide variety of colorwork slipped stitch patterns! Slipped stitches only require knitting one color each row, so they can be a pleasing change from stranded techniques. These are just a few of Deborah’s designs using slipped stitches.
In class Deborah will start with a slide show, featuring these interesting patterns. We’ll discuss how they feature both color and texture.
Then we will practice knitting a colorful pattern of our choice! We will also plan and start knitting a slipped stitch cowl.
Deborah will also talk about using slipped stitch patterns for other projects.
Deborah’s workshops are always a blast and she shares a wealth of information!
What to bring:
2 different colors of worsted weight yarns
A small amount of worsted that you would be willing to share with the class
Both 16” and a 24” circular needles, size 8 or 9.
Deborah is providing a copy of the Fall issue of Knit Simple, which includes several slipped stitch patterns including one of her newest designs. She is also giving each student a detailed handout with several different pattern stitches and a pattern for a slipped stitch hat!
She will also be raffling off a bunch of her books!
No design experience necessary!
